Egypt is a country with around 80 million population whom are living on about 5% of the total area of Egypt. The green area represents 4% of the total area of Egypt while the remaining one is desert. The Eastern desert (269,337 km2) and the Western desert (654,105 km2) are covering the majority of the Egyptian territory. Concerning water sources, the daily sources of water in Egypt is about 180 million cubic meters. The river Nile is representing 80% of this figure, while underground water represents 10% and the recycled water represents 10%.

The UN estimates that by 2025; 75% of the world population will have reliable clean water. 22 % of the world water uses goes to industry, while 8 % goes to domestic use and 70 % goes to agriculture.
